SCRUGGS UPDATE: Must Scruggs answer State Farm questions?

By: Magnolia Tribune - February 2, 2008

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, 2/1/8

The pros and cons of Richard “Dickie” Scruggs’ questioning under oath by State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. will be heard at 2 p.m. today in Chief Judge Mike Mills’ courtroom.

Late Thursday, a Mills order stopped the insurance company from questioning, or “deposing,” the famed Oxford attorney about his dealings in cases State Farm has an interest in.

Scruggs’ emergency motion, filed by attorney Christopher Robertson of his Oxford office, says State Farm wants him to testify about “the wide-ranging allegations of conspiracy” State Farm claims against Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood, in another case about Hurricane Katrina lawsuits.

State Farm is asking Mills to compel Scruggs to answer its questions.
