Party chairmen will not seek re-election
Both Mississippi Republican and Democratic party chairmen will not seek re-election, The Clarion-Ledger learned today.
Jim Herring said in a letter that he would not seek re-election for another four-year term as chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party at the state convention in May.
Mississippi Democratic Party Chairman Wayne Dowdy earlier told The Clarion-Ledger he will not seek re-election.
Herring said he would ask the new state executive committee elected at the convention to allow him to remain as chairman until the close of the Republican National Convention, which will be held Sept. 1.
