Chevron officials announced a $500 million expansion project Monday that will make the Pascagoula refinery the fifth-largest refinery in the United States and increase gasoline production to more than 6 million gallons a day.
Roland Kell, Pascagoula refinery general manager, said the company looked at the economic climate following Hurricane Katrina. He said the company’s announcement shows that Chevron believes the area has recovered from the hurricane.
