Insurance commissioner candidate Gary Anderson, beneficiary of nearly half a million trial lawyer dollars in the Democratic primary, told Mississippi Public Radio recently that he will drive down the cost of insurance in Mississippi by forcing insurance companies to lower premiums and luring new companies into our state for competition.
Let’s see if we have this straight: he will entice new companies to do business with us by strong-arming the ones already here. Sounds like a plan. Sounds like an ill-informed plan.
Republican candidate Mike Chaney is currently a key member of the Senate Insurance Committee and an author of the 2007 Windpool Insurance bill. Chaney co-authored the Teacher Insurance bill giving, our school teachers health insurance.
