Verbal attacks remained the same Thursday night between Republican incumbent Gov. Haley Barbour and Democratic challenger John Arthur Eaves Jr. in their second debate of the campaign season.
But some of those attending said they had hoped to hear more about the issues facing Mississippians.
In an hourlong question-and-answer format, the candidates quizzed each other on topics, including Barbour’s blind trust and Eaves’ stance on tort reform.
They also blasted each others’ political allies and campaign coffers.

US and China take a step back from sky-high tariffs, agree to pause for 90 days
The U.S. has agreed to drop its 145% tariff rate on Chinese goods by 115 percentage points to 30%, while China has agreed to lower its rate on U.S. goods by the same amount to 10%.
