Eaves, Barbour: Let’s do it again
When their hourlong clash ended Thursday night at the Saenger Theater, Gov. Haley Barbour and Democratic hopeful John Arthur Eaves Jr. said they would consider a rematch.
The two candidates tangled during the gubernatorial debate co-sponsored by the Sun Herald and USM-Gulf Coast, as part of their Issues + Answers lecture series.
When it was over, both camps were claiming victory.
“I think the public deserves to see the candidates again discussing the issues that are important to this campaign,” Barbour told the Sun Herald backstage after the debate.
