Hood sees insurers, home-repair fraud as priorities

By: Magnolia Tribune - September 20, 2007

The Sun Herald, 9/20/7

When Jim Hood was elected attorney general four years ago, he wanted to crack down on computer crimes, improve safety in schools and the workplace and implement tougher penalties for those convicted of domestic violence and child abuse.

Hood feels as if he’s made progress in those and other areas since he began his term, but his main focus, if he is re-elected, will be to make insurance companies accountable and cut down on the number of home-repair fraud cases.

Hood, a Democrat, faces Gulfport attorney Al Hopkins in the Nov. 5 general election.
