Feds allot $20M for roads

By: Magnolia Tribune - September 6, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger, 9/6/7

County roads on the Mississippi Gulf Coast that buckled and cracked under the weight of heavy debris will be repaired with $20 million, U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters announced Wednesday.

The six south Mississippi counties slammed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 will repair selected roads and be reimbursed from the pot.

“We love it,” said Southern Transportation Commissioner Wayne Brown. “Some of these county roads were heavily damaged.”
