Dozens flood the Capitol: Hurricane victims protest, want aid to come more quickly

Mississippi’s Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts are receiving increased scrutiny from advocacy groups calling for major changes and more transparency as billions of dollars in federal aid are distributed.

More than 100 Katrina victims and supporters marched on the state Capitol on Tuesday, demanding Gov. Haley Barbour’s grant program move more quickly and help more people. State and national groups have filed public records requests with the Mississippi Development Authority, the agency in charge of the program, to find out where the money is going.
