Pickering doesn’t rule out return to politics
The district juts north around Maben where Republican Lt. Gov. Amy Tuck was raised, which caused speculation that she would try for the office eventually.
She made it clear today she will not seek the seat.
“I commend Congressman Pickering for the leadership and dedicated service he has provided for the district and I wish him and his family the very best,” Tuck said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Rankin County GOP Chairman Gregg Harper said today he will run for the office.
Sen. Charlie Ross, R-Brandon, said he is considering a run and has been contacted by party members.
