A federal judge’s order that Mississippi voters show identification in future elections, as well as his ruling that the state’s open-primary system is unconstitutional, may get a second look by a higher court.

Pepper’s ruling came as a result of a lawsuit filed by Democratic Party officials seeking to block non-Democrats from voting in their primaries.
