Gov.: Barbour, Eaves should advance
Barbour’s exemplary record on leading Mississippi’s recovery from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, his leadership and negotiating skills in steering major economic development projects like the Toyota plant at Blue Springs and the SeverCorr project to the state, his successful efforts to strengthen job training and his stewardship of the state budget during difficult times make his re-election bid a strong one indeed.
Despite ongoing needs, public education funding is today at an all-time high in Mississippi. The state’s economy is strong – and Barbour’s administration has been free of scandal.
In the wake of Katrina, Barbour’s skills from his previous life as a Washington lobbyist proved to be just what the doctor ordered for an ailing Mississippi in need of the federal funds he used his influence to steer through Congress and the White House back to his home state.
