Reeves rings the NASDAQ Stock Market Closing Bell

State Treasurer Tate Reeves, the president of the National Association of State Treasurers, presided over the closing bell of the NASDAQ stock market yesterday marking the close of trading at 4 p.m. eastern time.

The National Association of State Treasurers held the NAST Issues Conference: Public Funds Management in New York this week focusing on core treasury investment management issues and the stock market. The conference was concluded with visits to the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ.

“It was a great honor to represent my peers from across the country by closing the NASDAQ stock exchange,” Treasurer Tate Reeves said. “Collectively, the state treasurers oversee and manage over $4 trillion in assets, and we could not be successful in investing the public’s money without partners such as NASDAQ.”

Treasurer Reeves was introduced by Robert H. McCooey, Senior Vice President of NASDAQ’s Capital Markets Group, and was joined by treasurers from Alabama, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Nevada, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Wisconsin.

Today, NASDAQ is the largest U.S. electronic stock market. With over 3,200 companies, it lists more companies and, on average, trades more shares per day than any other U.S. market. NASDAQ is the primary market for trading NASDAQ-listed stocks.
