Ethics opinion OKs council vote on school board

By: Magnolia Tribune - July 11, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger, 7/11/7

Jackson City Council members who have cited conflicts of interest as a reason for not voting on a school board nominee should vote, according to the State Ethics Commission.

City Attorney Sarah O’Reilly-Evans received the opinion Tuesday in response to her question on whether council members who conduct business with the school district or whose spouses work for the district can vote on appointments.
