Senate Bill 2745 gives the Department of Finance and Administration authority over the leases near the stadium. After several revisions this legislative session, the final bill allowed a 40-year lease with a 10-year extension. It would mean a developer could get financing for a mixed-use development such as the one proposed for that area.
The project near Veterans Memorial Stadium will be built by a developer from Texas and includes a hotel, offices, retail shops and apartments, Rep. Cecil Brown said. It will also mean millions of dollars for the city and surrounding area.
