This is an election year, and the good news for politicians is that Mississippi’s economy is enjoying a hardy pick-me-up as the state recovers from one of the worst natural disasters this country has seen.
The general fund portion of the state budget is hitting a record high $5 billion for the fiscal year that starts July 1.
