Mississippi’s officials wear seat belts

Mississippi’s elected officials are required to buckle up when they are transported by members of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Mississippi has seen its share of accidents involving state elected officials. In 1996, both Gov. Kirk Fordice and Lt. Gov. Ronnie Musgrove were involved in life-threatening accidents.
