Little impact seen in Mississippi from Supreme Court ruling on abortion procedure

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 20, 2007

The Commercial Dispatch, 4/20/7

A U.S. Supreme Court decision upholding a nationwide ban on the controversial procedure that opponents call ?partial birth? abortion will have little effect in Mississippi, organizations on both sides of the debate said Wednesday.

There has been no record of any physician in Mississippi performing this type of procedure before or after the 1997 law’s passage, said Susan Hill, president of the National Women’s Health Organization, which runs the only remaining abortion clinic in Mississippi.
