Lott pushing for more freight movement by rail

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 18, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger, 4/17/7

?With highways and airways becoming increasingly congested, pressure is on the railroads to accommodate the rising tide of freight,? Lott said in a news release. ?Tax relief in the bill would help freight railroads and railroad shippers expand their operations ? adding tracks, rail spurs and signals.?

The bill would create a 25 percent tax credit that would be available to taxpayers spending money for new freight infrastructure.
