Franks vows to stand up for blue-collar people

He responded to a question about the placement of a civil rights museum in Mississippi. Greenwood has been mentioned as a possible location.

Franks said there was a long debate about that question in the state House Ways and Means Committee, on which he serves. “I don’t think somebody who looks like me ought to be making the decision about where it goes,” he said.
Franks spent most of his speech criticizing Gov. Haley Barbour. He said the Republican-led Senate rubber-stamped Barbour’s proposals, failing to separate the legislative and executive branches of government.

He also said it was wrong not to fully fund the Mississippi Adequate Education Program in past years. Now that MAEP has been fully funded this year, Franks said that should happen every year, not just in an election year.
