Newly reorganized FEMA looks ahead

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 9, 2007

The Sun Herald, 4/8/7

FEMA is stationing more supplies around the country and is expanding its emergency-response teams as part of a congressionally mandated reorganization as a result of Hurricane Katrina, said Marko Bourne, the agency’s director of policy and program analysis.

The realignment, which puts FEMA in charge of preparing for and reacting to natural disasters and acts of terror through the Department of Homeland Security, became official last week – just two months before the June 1 start of hurricane season.
