In the Bullpen

By: Magnolia Tribune - June 27, 2006

In 2003, Leslie McLemore, current Jackson City Councilman and Jackson State Political Science Professor, said of the State Treasurer’s race, “I don’t think it would be a contest if Gary Anderson were not black. Tate Reeves would not be taken as a serious candidate.” With three years of hindsight, it is pretty evident how wrong McLemore was.

One name that has been a crescendo in Mississippi politics since 2003 is Tate Reeves. As the youngest statewide elected official in Mississippi history, the unassuming Tate is a picture of control. He is certainly not brash or flashy. He is never seen “chasing the mic”.
