Well, well, Mr. Mayor. You have had a hell of a first few days in office.
The city is all abuzz.
You had a big inaugural event with a widely acclaimed inauguration speech.
You got your senior staff appointed and approved in less than 48 hours.
You got the curfew turned back on.
You have achieved the temporary closing of The Upper Level nightclub.
You have done two crime sweeps through the Hwy 80 corridor.
Meanwhile . . .
The law professors at MC are analyzing whether or not you have crossed the line.
The Clarion Ledger is saying you can’t possibly keep up this pace (but they hope you will so they will sell more papers).
The predicatable anti-mayoral forces are predicting civil rights lawsuits are just around the corner.
Could it be that this is the “Shock and Awe” strategy? Hit ’em hard . . . hit ’em fast . . . damn the torpedoes?
You said that you wanted to make the city smile again.
It looks like that may be well on its way to happening.
The road won’t be easy or all smiles along the way.
But, you’ve made a good start.
