Police identify 2 suspects in girl’s abduction
Two men have been identified as suspects in the shooting and abduction of 11-year-old Amber Scott from her south Jackson home earlier this month, police said Wednesday.
Gilbert Ewing, 25, has been charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, burglary, shooting into an occupied dwelling and simple assault.
Detectives still are looking for Carlos T. Brown, 25, who faces the same charges as Ewing.
Ewing of 452 Arbor Hill Drive was being held without bond at the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond. He was arrested Monday.
“We don’t believe there is any more danger in that community,” Police Chief Robert Moore said.
Ewing and Brown are accused of bursting into Amber’s home on May 10 and shooting her as they demanded to see her uncle, Courtland “Fat” Scott, police said. One of the men grabbed Amber and tried to drag her away from her 869 Monterey St. home.
