Jackson Advocate Endorsement of Frank Melton

Excerpt

Several people over the past few months have expressed interest in knowing the position of th Jackson Advocate concerning the upcoming Jackson mayoral and city council races. Realizing that it is a privelege to be able to influence public response, the Advocate respectfully endorses the folliwing candidates with explanation.

For mayor, Frank Melton.

Melton has the best chance of blending segmented communities in Jackson, which is needed to create solutions to what truly ails the capital city – lack of opportunities for low-skilled workers. Jackson should be a model city for the state. Leadership Jackson, Mission Mississippi, and Jackson 2000 have attempted to bring about a change in race relations and diversity, however, the leadership should flow from city hall.
