The recent Clarion-Ledger’s series of reports, “Hinds County: Patchwork Justice,” showed that political turf wars have kept city and county law enforcement from operating in an efficient way to fight crime. The losers are the citizens/taxpayers; the winners are the criminals.
It’s indefensible for two law enforcement agencies with overlapping jurisdictions to have radio equipment that is incompatible. It defeats the purpose of emergency communications and only leads to embarrassing and even dangerous situations, as the series detailed.
