Public Transportation Improves For Disabled Residents

The Jackson Public Transportation Company, known as Jatran, now has 6 new vans with lifts for wheelchairs. The vans seat 16 passengers plus two wheel chairs. They are equipped with special features that accomodate people with disabilities.

Mayor Harvey Johnson said, “This handilift bus or this fleet of buses actually will make it much easier for member of the disabled community to go do simple things we take for granted such as visiting, going to the doctor, whatever the occassion might be. This will allow them to move around the city much easier.”
