Mississippi to benefit from passage of National Defense Authorization Act
U.S. Senator Roger Wicker played a key role in the passage of the bill. Among the provisions directly impacting Mississippi are $1 billion for construction of LPD 33 at Ingalls in Pascagoula, $33 million for a combat readiness center in Southaven, and $8 million for a fire and crash rescue site at the Jackson airport.

Michael Cassidy is being hailed as a Christian hero for decapitating a Satanic statue. He has been charged with criminal mischief. As of Thursday night, a legal defense fund had raised $20,000 to support him.

Mississippi's congressional delegation split down party lines on Wednesday's vote, with Congressman Bennie Thompson (D-MS 2) opposing the impeachment inquiry and Congressmen Trent Kelly (R-MS 1), Michael Guest (R-MS 3) and Mike Ezell (R-MS 4) supporting the resolution.
