YP – Governor Reeves announces additional social distancing guidelines for 7 counties
Governor Tate Reeves announced additional social distancing measures for seven counties identified as hotspots within our state to limit transmission around the communities and protect the health of all Mississippians.
Consulting with Dr. Thomas Dobbs and other state health officials, seven counties were identified as localized regions at a higher risk for transmission: Attala, Leake, Scott, Jasper, Neshoba, Newton, and Lauderdale Counties.

YP – MS Dept. of Human Services releases new federal guidance affecting thousands receiving SNAP
According to the guidance issued:
“Pandemic unemployment assistance payments, pandemic unemployment compensation, and pandemic emergency unemployment compensation authorized under CARES Act are considered unearned income for the purposes of determining a household’s SNAP eligibility and benefit amount.”
Under these rules, those receiving pandemic unemployment benefits will exceed the income threshold for receiving SNAP benefits. Those previously receiving SNAP benefits will have their cases closed upon receipt of federal unemployment benefits as a result of the new guidelines.

U.S. Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) today joined an effort to hold the Chinese government accountable for its role in the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Mississippi Senators are original cosponsors of the COVID-19 Accountability Act, which would authorize the President to impose sanctions on China if it hinders or evades any coronavirus pandemic investigation led by the United States, its allies, or United Nations affiliates.
