WTOK – ‘State of emergency’ designation remains in place at Parchman
Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves affirmed Monday the continued state of emergency at Mississippi State Penitentiary. the notice was delivered to Secretary of State Michael Watson, as required by law.
It allows emergency funds to be available as the state works to address the issues in Unit 29 of Parchman, according to the governor’s office.

WDAM – JSU president among 17 arrested in prostitution sting
William Bynum, the president of Jackson State University, was arrested in Clinton this weekend.
Bynum, 57, faces charges of procuring services of a prostitute, false statement of identity, and simple possession of marijuana.
Bynum was arrested as part of a sting of arrests handled by Clinton police detectives.
Bynum resigned as president Monday morning.
WDAM – Board names acting president of JSU
The Institute of Higher Learning named Thomas Hudson as the acting president of Jackson State University on Monday.
Hudson is the current special assistant to the president and Chief Diversity Officer at JSU.
Hudson takes over for William Bynum, who was arrested this weekend in a prostitution sting and subsequently resigned.
