Grind of SEC West tests even the best, Saban says
TUSCALOOSA — Speaking on the strength of the Southeastern Conference, Alabama head coach Nick Saban took what could be construed as a shot at non-major conference undefeated teams.
There are six SEC teams in the top 25, including five from the Western Division. That, Saban said, hurts Alabama’s efforts at “consistency and performance.”
“Especially when you play multiple good teams, which means you can’t just get up for one or two games in a season,” Saban said. “You have to play just about every week because you are playing a really strong opponent.”
The fifth-ranked Crimson Tide plays at No. 12 LSU on Saturday.
