Rebs seek total game vs. Tigers
At 8-0 coming off a 24-17 win over LSU, Auburn comes to Oxford for a 5 p.m. game Saturday ranked No. 3, the most highly ranked opponent the Rebels have seen this season.
“They’re the hottest team in the nation right now,” Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt said Sunday.
Given that Ole Miss is already 0-for-2 in that three-game, seemingly make-or-break stretch and has fallen below .500, that gives the Rebels even more heartburn. Auburn’s rushing offense, led mainly by quarterback Cameron Newton, is fourth-best in the country. Even its suspect defense, statistically, is middle-of-the-pack in the nation.
