There were some mistakes and letdowns for No. 23 Mississippi State (6-2, 2-2 Southeastern Conference), which managed to rally to an unexpected and hard-fought 29-24 win over underdog UAB on Saturday.
The mistakes prompted the question on many fans’ minds Sunday: Was MSU complacent and unfocused?
“They were focused during the week but you know it happens,” Mullen said of the Bulldogs, who surely heard the praise from fans after being ranked last week for the first time in nine years. “Not just from the students on campus, but from their families back at home and just in the kids’ minds.”
Mullen also had a message to the students and fans Saturday night after the fifth straight win: Keep the praise to yourself.
