Kentucky solves Spurrier, saves season
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) – Kentucky coach Joker Phillips says the Wildcats may have salvaged their season with a comeback win over No. 10 South Carolina on Saturday night, but it’s way too early to declare the Wildcats are legitimate SEC East contenders.
Kentucky (4-3, 1-3 SEC) rallied from an 18-point halftime deficit to stun the Gamecocks 31-28, the school’s first victory over South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier.
Spurrier entered the game unbeaten in 17 tries against the Wildcats, but the Gamecocks (4-2, 2-2) came undone after freshman star Marcus Lattimore went down with an injury in the third quarter.
