Even college football would be embarrassed by 5-7 bowl teams

College football doesn’t embarrass easily.
If it did, there would be a playoff by now, not a beauty contest to determine who plays for the national championship. Don’t wait for the sport to regret the money grabs known as 12 regular season games and conference championship games, even though presidents claimed for years that a playoff couldn’t happen because the season was too long.
Every so often, though, even college football turns red in the face.
