Spurrier has eyes on Tide, not record

Spurrier’s next SEC win would be his 107th, including 82 at Florida, where he coached from 1990-2001. That would move him out a tie for second with Ole Miss great Johnny Vaught. Alabama icon Paul “Bear” Bryant is the leader with 159 league wins

But Spurrier says the No. 19 Gamecocks have their hands full Saturday against the Crimson Tide and Nick Saban. Alabama has won 19 straight, including 31-6 last week over Florida, Spurrier’s alma mater.

South Carolina has never beaten a foe ranked higher than fourth — the Gamecocks topped No. 4 Ole Miss last season — and Spurrier hopes his team can hang with the defending national champions.
