Reviewing Ole Miss’ scrimmage

The big news coming out of Ole Miss’ second major scrimmage of the preseason this past Saturday really wasn’t much news at all to those in and around that program.

Coach Houston Nutt said he will continue to allow the Rebels’ quarterback situation to evolve and that he plans to play both Nathan Stanley and Jeremiah Masoli in the opener against Jacksonville State. The bigger news was that he will at least consider a redshirt season for junior college newcomer Randall Mackey, who’s also been working at quarterback.

Stanley finished 10-of-11 for 117 yards and also had a 20-yard touchdown run. Masoli was 5-of-10 for 124 yards and threw two touchdown passes. He also had a 61-yard pass to Lionel Breaux that was called back because of pass interference.
