How Fisher ended up at Florida State

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The roads in this shrinking West Virginia town lead to old coal mines, abandoned glass factories and a downtown that’s disappearing, but they don’t lead too far away for most people born here.

Bryan Fisher is driving around the hilly countryside in a big red pickup, talking about his older brother, Jimbo. It’s a story about how the oldest son of a third-generation coal miner grew up to become the head football coach at Florida State.
The man who last month succeeded Bobby Bowden to become the Seminoles’ second head coach in 35 years has roots that grasp onto nearly every sports field, court and sandlot here.
