Bulldogs run all over Rebels’ previously stout defense
STARKVILLE — Thanks partly to Jerrell Powe’s 320-pound body clogging the middle of the field, the Ole Miss defense has prided itself on its ability to punish opposing ballcarriers.
But on Saturday afternoon at Scott Field, the only people dishing out pain – literally and figuratively – were clad in maroon and white.
“This was definitely a blow to the sternum,” Powe said.
Mississippi State steamrolled No. 20 Ole Miss 41-27 in front of an announced crowd of 55,365, using about as basic of an offensive philosophy as the Rebels had seen all year.
