Carroll, Harbaugh know the stakes are big
The realities of the new, anything-can-happen-because-it-already-has Pacific-10 Conference seemed to strike Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll with equivalent force Tuesday. In other words, they chose to play nice in their conference call interviews because the fairer the fight, the less whimsical, impish or antagonistic either coach behaves.
It was all middle-of-the-fairway stuff from the two coaches as they prepared for what must be the most intriguing Homecoming Week game in recent college history.
