MSU defenders ‘take it personal,’ rise up in win
NASHVILLE – Mississippi State’s defense, a week after being shredded by Auburn for 589 yards, looked like its old self again Saturday.
Facing an almost identical spread offense as Auburn runs, the Bulldogs held Vanderbilt to 157 total yards in a 15-3 win at Vanderbilt Stadium.
Only 33 of those yards came on the ground. Auburn had gained 390 rushing.
“I took it very personal,” MSU head coach Dan Mullen said. “And I can tell you if I take it personal, our defensive staff is going to take it personal, and I think our players came back and responded to that.
