  • “To put it simply, the agents lied on their applications,” Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney.

The Mississippi Insurance Department announced Wednesday that the agency was revoking the licenses of 21 insurance agents after they failed to appear at a hearing this week.

The agents are accused of obtaining or maintaining a Mississippi resident producer license through material misrepresentation or false pretenses in violation of state law.

This latest round of revocations comes after the Mississippi Insurance Department revoked the licenses of 59 insurance agents in July for similar reasons.

Despite receiving notice, none of the agents appeared to refute the claims against them.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney said his office learned about the misrepresentation by the 21 agents through the department’s investigative division.

“To put it simply, the agents lied on their applications,” Chaney said. “The cases were scheduled for hearings on October 15, 2026. However, none of the agents showed up to defend themselves, and the licenses were revoked immediately.”

The department noted that the agents may appeal the decisions pursuant to Mississippi Code Section 83-17-83.
