Auburn coach Gene Chizik, motivational speaker?
AUBURN — Admit it. Friend or foe or innocent bystander, you can’t wait to see Gene Chizik on the Auburn sideline Saturday in his first game as head coach.
How will the new boss act in the heat of the moment?
Will he rant and rave? Will he calm and soothe? Will he spend as much time jawing at the officials as Tommy Tuberville?
If you’re expecting Chizik to put on a show, you’ll be disappointed.
“He’s always been cool as a cucumber,” said running backs coach Curtis Luper, who first worked with Chizik at Stephen F. Austin in the mid-90s.
“One of his sayings early on, when I started coaching with him, was never let them see you sweat. He won’t show much emotion. That’s just his nature.”
