HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss star receiver DeAndre Brown got a thumbs up from his doctor on Monday but he’ll have to wait until Friday to see if he’ll play in Saturday’s opener against Alcorn State.
That’s when coach Larry Fedora said he’ll decide if the 6-foot-6 sophomore is ready to play in a game for the first time since he suffered a broken leg last December during the New Orleans Bowl.
Brown’s doctor cleared him to take part in contact drills this week, Fedora said.
