It’s not all negative press for Vols
It wouldn’t serve much purpose to write the 1,737th column slamming Lane Kiffin, the new Tennessee coach.
That’s not to say there wasn’t anything to criticize about his appearance before the print media at the Southeastern Conference Kickoff last Friday.
His delivery sounded like a high school sophomore giving a jittery campaign speech for the vice-presidency of her class. I still don’t buy the idea that every gaffe he’s made since he was hired last December has been designed to “attract attention to Tennessee” and I certainly don’t buy his conclusion that he has made Tennessee’s program “the most talked-about in the nation,” or even the league. (Rest assured the word “Florida” was said more than the word “Tennessee” last week, by about sevenfold.)
