Utah coach describes himself as ‘a regular guy’
NEW ORLEANS – A complimentary sports utility vehicle pulled to the curb and unloaded an entire posse for one man.
Alabama coach Nick Saban arrived for Sunday morning’s news conference flanked by at least two plain-clothed police officers, one of whom alertly stood watch over proceedings like an agent of the U.S. Secret Service.
“He’s a rock star. He’s an icon,” Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said of Saban. “I’m just a regular guy.”
The differences between the two coaches of Friday’s Sugar Bowl between Alabama (12-1) and Utah (12-0) could not be more pronounced, and they tend to mirror the profile each of the two teams carry into this contest.
