UF’s Heisman winners have divine inspiration
Every time Danny Wuerffel dropped back to pass, there was chaos all around him.
Defenders yelled and grunted as they slammed into pass blockers. Sweat and blood splattered. Chunks of turf, ripped free by cleats bearing 300-plus pounds, flew into the air.
Yet the former Florida quarterback was always calm, not rattled or afraid.
All good quarterbacks are that way. Steve Spurrier when he played for UF in the 1960s, Wuerffel in the 1990s, and now Tim Tebow had or have the ability to feel a quiet stillness when everything around them is frantic.
