Saban puts friends, teams first at LSU and Alabama

True story. They hung a banner. Right there in the hotel suite of Nick and Terry Saban. And they did it the day before Alabama beat LSU 27-21 in overtime to clinch the SEC West title for the first time in nine years.
Normally, this is the kind of thing that might cause the Alabama football coach to pull a stomach muscle, as he did before the game and at halftime to light a fire under his team.
But this banner wasn’t about a championship.

It was about friendship. The kind that crosses years and the line of scrimmage but gets buried, to the outside world, in the ugly ashes of a burning effigy.
The banner said: “Welcome back, Nick and Terry, from your Louisiana friends.”
“And they all signed it,” Terry Saban said.
