More breaks needed for another 7-5
In retrospect, Mississippi State’s 8-5 football finish and Sylvester Croom’s SEC Coach of the Year honors of a season ago seem almost magical.
Good fortune smiled at the Bulldogs early and often.
Another way to look at it: Sly Croom was past due a few decent breaks.
Croom will tell you it was another step in a rebuilding program he has engineered from the ground up. He firmly expects progress to continue.
We shall see. My take: Considering the good fortune State encountered last year – and the off-season personnel losses suffered since – another 7-5 season and bowl game to follow would solidify the program and constitute progress.
