Alabama notices change in Wilson

UA quarterback focused on having better season
TUSCALOOSA – Teammates have started saying things about John Parker Wilson that Alabama’s third-year starting quarterback would never profess of himself.

They’re saying Wilson is more focused. He’s more productive. He’s working harder. He’s more prepared, more comfortable, more in tune with what’s expected of him and more driven to try to prove doubters wrong during his final season with the Crimson Tide.
Wilson just shrugs lazily, same as always.
“We’ll talk at the end of the season,” he said, “and (about) however many wins we have. That’s the only thing I care about.”
As Alabama’s unquestioned starter and leader amid a host of unproven youngsters at his position, Wilson heads into the 2008 season with the usual pressure but without the expectations hovering above the so-called elite SEC quarterbacks. In conversations about Florida’s Tim Tebow or Georgia’s Matthew Stafford, Wilson’s name is seldom mentioned.
